Terms of use
The terms for using this website, your account, grant applications and donations, in plain English.
Last updated 25 October 2026. See also our privacy notice.
About us and these terms
This website is run by the What Would Mia Do Trust, a registered charity in England and Wales (number 1198310), of 90 Western Road, Burgess Hill, West Sussex, RH15 8QN. By using the website you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use it, and contact us if we can help another way.
Using the website
Please use the website lawfully and kindly. Do not try to get into parts of it that are not meant for you, to get round its security, to send spam or harmful files, or to disrupt it for others. We record sign-ins and what signed-in people do, as our privacy notice explains, and we may suspend an account that is being misused.
Your account
- Keep your sign-in details to yourself, and tell us straight away if you think someone else has used your account.
- Please keep your details up to date in Your details.
- You can ask us to close your account at any time. Some records, such as Gift Aid declarations and grant decisions, we must keep for a time after that, as the privacy notice explains.
- The trustee area is only for the Trust's trustees and volunteers we have given access to.
Grant applications
- Everything in an application must be true and complete, to the best of your knowledge. If you apply for someone else, you must have their permission (or their parent or carer's, for a child).
- We may ask for more information or evidence, such as a quote or a letter from a club, before deciding.
- Our trustees decide every application against our grant criteria and the money we have available. Sending an application does not mean a grant will be made.
- A grant must be used for what it was given for. We usually pay the club or supplier directly. If a grant cannot be used as planned, please tell us.
- If we find an application was not honest, or a grant was not used as agreed, we may cancel the grant and ask for the money back.
- We may ask you, after the grant, how it went. Telling us is optional, and we only share a story if you have said we may.
Messages and emails
Please reply to us through your account, or through the link in our email for a message sent without an account, rather than by replying to the email itself. That way your reply is kept safely with your application or conversation, and the right trustee sees it. Our trustees are volunteers and will reply as soon as they can. We will never ask for your bank details by email or phone.
Donations
- Card payments are taken by Square, and Direct Debits and pay by bank payments by GoCardless, on our behalf. Direct Debits are protected by the Direct Debit Guarantee.
- You can change, pause or cancel a regular donation in Your giving, or by contacting us.
- If you gave by mistake, or the wrong amount, please contact us as soon as you can and we will put it right.
- If you ask us to claim Gift Aid, you must be a UK taxpayer. If you pay less Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax in the current tax year than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all your donations, it is your responsibility to pay any difference. Please tell us if your name, address or tax status changes.
Our content
The words, photos and logo on this website belong to the Trust or to the people who gave us permission to use them. You are welcome to share links to our pages and to print pages for your own use. Please ask us before using anything else. Stories of young people we have helped are shared only with their (or their parent or carer's) permission.
Other websites
We link to other websites, such as JustGiving, our payment providers and sports organisations. We are not responsible for their content or for how they use your information, so please read their own terms.
Our responsibility to you
We take care to keep the website accurate, available and secure, but we cannot promise it will always be free of errors or interruptions. Nothing in these terms limits any responsibility we have that cannot be limited by law.
Changes and the law
We may update these terms, for example when the website changes, and will show the date at the top. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
